Journaling Part III – Cravings… What Are Our Children Inheriting?

7 Jul
Journaling not only reminds you of what God has done and is doing in your life but  your journals can be passed down for your children and their children to be reminded of the ways of God as well!

How we
respond to cravings in our lives is a rich deposit to be made for our children to  inherit; to hear about, read about and to follow themselves!

Let’s take a look at what cravings surfaced “physically” on Day 15 of my last cleanse and together we can learn from it. I  love how God created our bodies to respond to a cleanse but it’s up to us how we are going to respond to the cravings that surface – and surface they will.

  Day 15
Thurs Jan 29

Physical: Today I’m craving salt and sugar!
These specific toxins are stored deep into the muscle tissue from foods and drinks that have been consumed in the past. During a fast these toxins are therefore released into the blood stream for elimination. As they are being released, your sensory system is stimulated and will remind you of that particular stimulant/food.

In other words, you begin to crave for a particular toxin that you have ingested and even want to kill for it! In my case today, I am craving for something salty and sweet and did not want anyone or anything to get in my way!

Sound familiar?

Our bodies are amazing as they will remind us of stimulants we have used in the past. But on the other hand, the good news is…   your body cannot remind you of a stimulant that you have not previously experienced! For example, I have never smoked cigarettes, (well only one time when I was about ten yrs old!) so my body can not release those toxins from cigarettes nor remind me of the taste of nicotine!

Mental: Pondering on the above principle. Does it work the same in my life spiritually? What type of movies do I watch? What is the type of music I listen to? How often do I read my Bible?  What is it I meditate on throughout my day?  I will be able to tell by what my flesh is demanding!

Emotional: Believe it or not… calm. But how can this be when one moment I am ready to kill for something salty and sweet?!!

Spiritual: God showing me that just as I have learned to watch, wait and be sensitive to how my body responds during a cleanse… how much more it is to watch, wait and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s work in my life and choose to respond to cravings in a way that brings life – to myself and the generations to come!

Honey- I - Dew

May I crave for and respond to the ways of God… may His ways satisfy my hunger and thirst.

Speaking of thirst, here’s a good healthy choice that will satisfy my sweet cravings today!

Drink of the day: “Honey I Dew”
Peel and slice a honeydew into pieces
Blend in a
Blend- Tec  high-power blender with a bit of water to desired consistency!

Journaling these “5 Areas That Promote Healing”  while on a “Body and Soul” cleanse, will definitely promote a healing worth journaling about to your generations to come!
Enjoy!

Journaling Part II… People Watching Got Me in Big Trouble!

29 Jun

This was one of those “Body & Soul” cleanse days where I did not  maintain my regular style of journaling as we talked about in Part I.  We  definitely do not want  journaling to become a  law with a foul stench of legalism!

No Sireeee!

But what we do want Journaling to become is … fun, exciting, creative and ultimately…

life changing!

Check out what God revealed to me as you read on. I think you will be just as shocked as I was on Day 11 of my Body & Soul Cleanse!

DAY 11
Sun. Jan 25

Big lesson today… big BIG lesson!

One of my favorite past times is to people watch!  You know… where you make up all kinds of stories about different people who catch your eye.

Today Bob, Johnna and I sat in a little coffee shop  waiting for friend’s to arrive.

I continued my adventure of “people watching” while waiting.

Across from our table sat a young man dressed in really shabby clothes carrying a small backpack. My first thought was “wow… he must be very poor, live out of his car (that is if he has one), and defiantly has no life goals.”

Our friends finally arrived but my thoughts were still measuring up the young man as he packed up his meager belongings and made his way out of the coffee shop. Leaving ourselves, my friend suggested we tour an open house nearby the coffee shop.

Quickly making our way down the street, we finally arrived in front of this beautifully restored two-story home. As we entered it was as if we were walking into a home of the rich and famous!  This mansion was immaculate and beautifully decorated. We were in awe of every corner we turned.

Coming to the end of our tour the realtor introduces my friend to the owner who just happened to walk in.

My eye caught a glimpse of him and I about passed out!

Guess who the owner was?  You guessed. He was the young man sitting across from us at the coffee shop
!
I could not get out of the house quick enough repenting over and over and over-  to God and to my friends for  judging that young man! I sized him up and down… thinking the worst of him.

Here I am on a fast, desiring to see the hand of God move powerfully through me only to find out that He was moving within me - revealing my true state of health.

A heart that is so quick to think the worst of others!

What began as a simple little game of “people watching” ended up exposing my heart –  full of judgments.  Wow what a lesson today….

Ok…Help me out here… what are some other lessons we can learn from my journal of  “people watching?
Go ahead… I can handle it - as I hope I am not the only one that has experienced this!

Journaling Part I – 5 Areas that Promote Healing

25 Jun

I have discovered a great way to journal especially in preparation for a  “Body & Soul” cleanse and would like to share it with you!

Five ways that help me co-operate with the Holy Spirit - promoting healing.

We are spirit, soul and body and God intends for us to function as a whole! Redemption involves the “whole man” as stated in I Thessalonians 5:23.

Think about it…

Just as a watch maker disassembles a watch, carefully cleaning each piece, putting it back together again for the ultimate tick… or how about a mechanic who takes apart an engine, fine tunes and oils each piece, putting it back together for the grand race  … so it goes with journaling during a  “Body & Soul” cleanse!

During a fast I like to divide my journal into five sections…

1. Physically

2. Mentally

3. Emotionally

4. Spiritually

5.  Intake for the day

This enables me to posture myself in such a way for the Holy Spirit to come and do what He does best… bring healing!  Oh….that we might choose to enjoy good health physically, mentally and emotionally as expressed in III John v2!

To give you a small taste, I chose six days from my last 21 day fast to model for you… including juice recipes too! So during your next “Body & Soul” cleanse… grab yourself a journal and juicer or a high-powered blender and follow along. :)

Enjoy as you discover a “journaling that promotes healing!”

Part I of a 3 part series

The Green GIANT!

Thurs. Jan 15
DAY 1

Physical:
Feeling strong

Mental: My mind is an arena where my spirit and flesh are like two opponents out-shouting the other… who will win? The one I feed the most.

Emotional: My emotions are on the side lines of this arena. They make excellent cheerleaders and know their routine well!

Spiritual: I choose to surrender all.  All?

Drink of the day: Revving up the blender for this 21 days with the  ”Green Giant”

     Day 2
Frid. Jan 16

We have a “Father Heart” meeting this weekend, so we are on the road again!

Dandy-Lion-Juice coming up!

Physical:  My body is detoxifing at a good pace…not too fast and not to slow. I can tell I am still running on reserves.

Mental: This is a trouble area for sure! The majority of my thoughts are negative and swarming like stinging bees, releasing a poison that circulates throughout the whole body.
(Hmmm… that could preach!)

Emotional:  Like every fast, my emotions are like fishing bobbers, bobbing up all over the sea of my heart! Whooo today I got a nibble as anger is bobbing up and down relentlessly. Interesting.  Normally it’s a week or two into the fast before deep embedded emotions like this one begin to surface. Wonder what the Holy Spirit is going to show me.

Spiritual: God….why so quickly with this emotion? Let’s pull this whopper in and discover what is hooked on the end of this line! What is the root to this anger? I don’t want to be hindered any longer with the weight of anger as it affects so many areas of my life.

Drink of the day:  “Dandy-Lion-Greens”
1 cucumber peeled
1 lemon peeled
3 celery
1 pear peeled
ginger (quarter size & peeled)
dandelion greens (a handful!
—————–
Chop ingredients and blend in a high-powered blender
adjust ingredients to taste – enjoy!
