Fasting Day 27 – I Want to Quit!

27 Jan

Yes my flesh is screaming and I just want to QUIT- calling an end to this fast! I only have 3 more days left but who cares. I am edgy, irritated, and snippy and getting really tired of veggie broths, kefir water, coconut water, herbal teas and juices. BORING… BORING… BORING! Besides they are all leaving a NASTY taste in my mouth.

Nothing satisfies! (But then on the other hand… is my flesh suppose to be satisfied during a fast?)

I really want to savor these last three days of the fast and take in all God has for me. There have been many times in my life (like today!) where I want to just quit, give up, and throw in the towel.

But what if it is right before my break-through?

How many times have I or any of us for that matter given up only to find out later – our miracle was just around the corner! (Now you might not be on a fast… but this still can pertain to you!)

Today my flesh is screaming!  BUT… may my spirit arise!

Only God satisfies.

I am desperate for…

Break-through in my marriage.

Break-through in my children.

Break-through in my family and the generations to come!

Are you with me? Out of obedience to God and His Word let’s not give up. No matter what is going on in your life today, let’s push through to victory for His grace is sufficient for sure!

Whew…. now that my little tantrum is behind me… let’s refocus. :)

In the meantime fix yourself my daughter’s favorite….

Double on the Orange
5 carrots
2 orange
———–
Juice the carrots and oranges… add water to taste and push through to victory!

Bless you!

PS. If you have not ordered “The Joy of Fasting” CD… it’s not too late! There are still FOUR days left for FREE postage and handling! Please email  info@freedomquestinternational.org to place your order today!

Fasting Day 17 – “Is Your Heart Circumcised?”

17 Jan

In my last post, “Words…What Do Yours Communicate?” God was dealing with my MOUTH and is not done today on Day 17! The only difference is He is just going a bit deeper and dealing with my heart – the place my words come from!

“Kelly Parr… It’s time for a circumcision – circumcision of your heart!”

Yes… circumcision is a painful experience, but the amount of pain suffered correlates to the age of the one being cut! Now spiritually speaking, I have been a Christian for 35 years - thus I am NOT a baby Christian anymore! OUCH!

On Day 8 of this fast the Holy Spirit reminded me of two scriptures…

Genesis 17:12 where God said to Abraham, “… every male among you shall be circumcised when he is eight days old…” (NRSV)

Joshua 5:2 “… Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites a second time.”

The safest day in a males entire life to be circumcised is day 8 when vitamin K’s ability to clot is the highest and as for the flint knife… when sharpened it sterilizes itself!

God’s people in those days were not always circumcised in this manner… at times they followed they ways of the world. Oh how I can relate to this principle spiritually.

“Kelly Parr… It’s time for a circumcision – circumcision of your heart!”

Paul said to the Colossians in 2:11
“…not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ…”

3 v8: “…rid myself of : anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”

“God makes changes in my heart but I must crucify my habits”.

If I am going to prophetically speak into people’s lives… then I better be doing the same within my own home first. Speaking words that build up not tear down.

For those of you who are ready for a “circumcision” and want a solution for this age-old problem of the heart…check out my earlier post “Put My Mind Through a Wringer” !

 … And for those

who would rather ease into it and crack open a fresh coconut instead… read “Stinky Armpits and Cracken Coconuts!

Whether we want to jump in or ease in…either way… it does not change God’s love for us! :)

Fasting Day 6 – Words… What Do Yours Communicate?

6 Jan

Fasting: Day 6

Physical fact… One of the normal channels of elimination during a fast are the lungs.

  • Dry cough
  • congestion
  • coughing up mucus
  • bad breath

This is just what my lungs have been up to - detoxing.

For the last 4 days, I have had this dry unproductive cough and not able to speak! Every time I try to, I begin coughing non-stop. Needless to say I have discovered being a good “listener” is not one of my strengths. (Yea I know… some of you reading this could have already told me that!)

I have had a thousand words swirling around inside my head – ready to explode! You know, words that communicate ”I got a better idea” when my husband brings an idea of his own to me. Or when my kids want to tell me about their day… I for sure must impart my ”words of wisdom”- when all they really want is a mom who will just listen.

Spiritual truth… the Holy Spirit has been showing me that my so-called
amazing “words” end up communicating  judgment, pride and sarcasm.

Bottom line… words that hurt and don’t give life.

For example, last night my voice started to re-appear (yahoo!)… only to discover the first words to come out communicated anger! It was only just a “few” words I thought… consequently that is all it took. These words did not bring warm fuzzies to my hubby! (Ok ok… I have since repented and asked his forgiveness!)

Proverbs 12: 18… Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing

Today it’s back to silence – pondering on this verse and allowing it to sink past my mind and into my heart while sipping on a cup of my home-made veggie broth.

So why not make yourself a warm cup of veggie broth to sip on, glance at the wonderful little chart I created above and ask yourself…

What have my words communicated today?
Bless you!
