CALLING ALL BROWNIE LOVERS!

I have just discovered how to make the most incredible chocolatie…
OOEY… GOOEY… RAW BROWNIES!
Oh my… and to top it off… they are actually good for you!
Can you blieve it? Look how tall they stand! They are proud to be called… bRAWnie!
To begin with… let’s give credit where credit is due.

These are my three newest “uncook” raw books that found their way to my doorstep and I gladly took them in!
1. Sweet Gratitude – Matthew Rogers & Tiziana Alipo Tamborra
2. Raw for Dessert- Jennifer Cornbleet
3. everydayraw- Matthew Kenney

So… back to the ooie gooie “bRAWnies”! Are you ready for this?
The original recipe can be found in Matthew’s “everydayraw” book called “warm fudge brownie”… yummm
… but I sort of tweeked it a bit and here is what I came up with!

bRAWnie bites
2 cups cashew’s
2 cups walnut’s
1 cup cacao powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup maple syrup (grade B)
1/2 cup dark agave
1/2 cup water
1/2 vanilla bean – scraped
In a food processor blend nuts into a flour
add cinnamon and cacao powder
Mix in wet ingredients and blend well
Pour batter into a 9 x 13 pan lined with wax paper
Place on the lower shelf of a dehydrator for around 12 hours
Lift “bRAWnies” out of pan, remove wax paper and cut “bRAWnies” into squares
Place the brownie squares on a dehydrator screen for about another 6 hours or so

Then dress ’em up with this “chocolate ganache” found in the ”Raw for Dessert” book!
But once again.. I tweeked the recipe- just a bit!

mix in a high power blender…
* 1 Cup dark agave syrup
* 3/4 Cup cacao powder
* 1/3 Cup virgin coconut butter
* 1 tsp vanilla
Smear on the ganache generously… and share with a special friend!

Hi Kelly,
I’m back on FB after my emails and FB hacked. I was wondering if you have recipes or can subsitute Agave & Maple syrup for something like stevia because I am very hypoglycemic and these still raise my blood sugar. These brownies look yummy! Hope KC is good to you.
Jeanne! Great hearing from you.
Getting hacked is no fun…my sons fb just did today too.
Stevia …it doesnt take many drops to make it really strong tasting and it’s the liquid of the agave/maple syrup that help hold the nuts together.
Dates would be high sugar too… banana’s too.
Hmmmm … what about soaked apriots and then blend them up into a paste? Not for sure how high in sugar they are. It would take alot of stevia drops to hold all the nuts togther and then would probably taste nasty! Avocado? Let me know if you disccover anything else that would be a soft and mushy consistancy and would keep it sweet!
Jeanne… I just thought of something else!!! What about using tahini?!!! I think that might work!
~`” I am really thankful to this topic because it really gives great information -,-
Thanks for your comment! Can you please elaborate on “how” it was helpful?! I would appreciate it so that I can blog more of what my readers want!
I do not have an excalibur dehydrator but instead a square one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00179DCCQ/ref=oss_product). It has a hole down the middle and only a few inches of space inbetween screens. for example, I tried to put a whole portabella mushroom in it and the screens hit each other. Any thoughts on how to make these yummy brawnie treats without one big pan?
Alicia… I just went to look on amazon…
….even in my excalibur I have to “take out” some screens to dehydrate the “tall/thick” food. In other words.. instead of using 9 of my shelves..I will only use like 5…that way I have more height between each shelf. Will your dehydrator allow you to do that?
Another thought…is to shape those bRAWnie treats any way you like! They don’t have to go in a pan. Perhaps roll them into little balls? Or flatten them like a cookie… or hey I got it! Why not do a “bRAWnie ROLL UP”!!! (instead of fruit roll ups)! I will have to try that one too!
Unfortunately you can’t take out trays cuz they stack on top of each other
BUT, rolling them into little brawnie balls or individual “cookies” upfront sounds like the solution. I wasn’t sure how the texture would be?? If it would be too liquidy to do that. Perfect solution. I have been craving them since I saw them a few weeks ago. Always a work around in RAW-land, LOL. Thanks!
When I made them it was a bit liquidy… but you could just add more nut flour! Play around and have fun… let me know what you come up with!
Ok… back to work… good thing my office is in the home!
Can you use a blender instead of a food processor. I don’t have a food processor, but I do have a dehydrator.
Lisa
Miss you guys.
Lisa! Good to hear from you! …. blender instead of a food processor? Just depends on what you are doing…. the blades, consistancy and final product would be different. Also depends on what kind of blender you have. Give me an idea what you will be doing and then I can answer a bit better!
bless you guys and have a Merry Merry Christmas with loved ones!
Lisa… ha too funny… I just now saw that you were responding to the “bRAWnie” bites recipe!
Yes the blender would probably work on these… doing it in the blender might make them a bit creamier … and not so nutty. and depending on what type of blender you have will depend on the texture.
try it… you can’t go wrong and who knows…you might invent another great recipe!
Sounds yummy…. I am seriously in need of comfort food at the moment and this recipe sounds like just the thing.

Kathie,
Thanks for stopping by. I just went to your blog and I am so sorry to hear about your mom. So sorry.
Your posts are very touching and oh so real. Thank you for sharing your pain.
we send hugs from our home to yours and may God continue to wrap you in a blanket of grace.
thanks Kelly. Even though the last 2 weeks (I just realised that it was about this time 2 weeks ago that my Mum passed away) have been awful it has been a real blessing to receive so much love and so many prayers from so many people. I love the imagery of the Lord wrapping my in a blanket of grace….I’ll pray that for my Dad too.
Kathie
Kathie,
I can’t imagine your pain. … . Stay snuggling with grace… and I also agree with you in prayer for your dad. May God continue to bring comfort, grace and lots of love to you and your family. Bob and I bless you
I want to be there to eat them with you Kelly and Johnna!!!!!:):)
I don’t have a dehydrator sooo I’ll try the oven very very low with the door open.
Ellen!!! They are so easy to make! Yes just like I told Divina…. try the oven on low low temp! Let me know how they turn out! Looking forward to you all coming!
Those look GREAT! Best of all… it doesn’t require dates! I love dates, but they are SO expensive here if you are lucky enough to find some. How did you get those books? I’m always on the look out for cookbooks to try… especially raw cookbooks because I am getting more into that.
Marillyn,
Yes no dates! I saw another brownie recipe in one of the other books “Raw for Dessert”… called “Really, one bowl brownie” that do require dates and NO dehydrator. Did you hear that Divina! NO DEHYDRATOR! whooo hooo.
Marillyn, you can get the books off Amazon… I linked em to the website.
Let me know if you try them…. or if you whip up something similar- as you are good at that!
Wow, look at those brownies. I believe I do have all the ingredients. I just don’t have a dehydrator.
Divina,
Don’t be sad! I have heard that you could put them in the oven on very very low heat with door cracked. Have you tried something like that before? Give it a shot and see what happens!
THESE ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! SERIOUSLY, THE BEST CHOCOLATEY THING THAT HAS EVER COME OUT OF MY MOMMA’S KITCHEN! EVERYBODY HAS GOT TO TRY THESE! ONCE YOU DO, YOU’LL NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO THE SUGARY CHOCOLATE THAT MAKES YOU FEEL SICK. I CAN EAT SEVERAL OF THESE BRAWNIES AND NOT EVEN FEEL THE SLIGHTEST ILL. HALLELUJAH!!!
