Welcome to Part I of Beginning a detox… one meal at a time!
Detox, cleansing, fasting; those seem to be the buzz words around town!
Definition according to Webster…
Detoxification: to remove a poison or toxin or the effect of such from. To free (as a drug user or alcoholic) from an intoxicating or addictive substance or from dependence on it.
Cleanse: to make clean!
Fasting: to abstain from food; to eat sparingly or abstain from some foods.
Bottom line
Let’s focus on what gives life as we turn from those things that withhold life!
What I have found to be the most healthiest way to ease into a detox- is beginning one meal at a time!
Day 1: Detox breakfast
Day 2: Detox breakfast and lunch
Day 3: Detox breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Continue with Day 3 adding new recipes along the way until it becomes a lifestyle!
Let’s begin with breakfast…

Upon awakening:
A glass of a powdered green drink. I like “Perfect Food Original” a super green formula by Garden of Life (it also comes sweetened with stevia!). Beginning your day with a green drink (and not a typical S.A.D. meal) enables the body to begin removing accumulated toxins.
There are a lot of other powdered green drinks out there….tell us your favorite!
Mid-Morning:
Here are two options for your morning..
1. Salad in a glass!
My favorite is a tall glass of apple, a chunk of fresh ginger, lemon, kale and some baby spinach. Blending all ingredients in a high-powered blender does it quick and easy.
Or you can juice them in juicer as well. Depending on how quick of a detox you want to experience!
2. Apple Crunch
Cut apples, add raisins, sprinkle with cinnamon, then drench em with fresh grape juice and crushed walnuts!
Blend red seedless grapes in your blender to make the juice really fresh!
Congratulations!
You have completed Day 1 of your detox… one meal at a time!
Headaches, fatigue, joint pains, hives, cough, indigestion, wheezing, bad breath, sore throat, skin rashes, constipation, back aches, depression, sinus congestion, dizziness, fever, anxiety and or mood changes but don’t give up!
Please keep in mind that each one of us are different (diets, lifestyles, environment etc) and will detox differently.
So keep the comments & questions coming and let’s experience this together!

Way to go!
Thanks Shirley! May your week be a prosperous one… spirit, soul and body!
great, mom!
just a word to all… that green drink triggers my gag-reflexes! so i mix with juice and I’m better able to hack it and get it down.
Another “green drink” i used in the past was “Greens Plus – Berries”. Click link to see/buy http://tinyurl.com/mspgwz
Great idea Johnna… to all those “gag-reflexers”!
