Day 3
Absolute Fast: no food/no water
Location: Jakarta Indonesia (attending a 10/40 Window conference)
Purpose of fast: Praying for my children
Fine tuning of my own life
Whew! This is the last day of my 3 day absolute fast!
My entry for that day…
I am soooooo thirsty! Physically my body is responding at a rapid rate; tongue is super pasty (good sign of liver detoxing), skin goes from hot to cold, still a headache and muscles and joints ache. Last night I couldn’t sleep as I awoke every 2 hours! (again.. body detoxing)!
Wide awake, I arose and made my way over to the large glass window of our 32nd floor apartment, gazed out over the city of Jakarta and began meditating on John 4:13-14:
“the woman at the well”… 13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.
I am really thirsty and my mouth is extremely dry… but Jesus I am thirstier for you! Just as this Samaritan woman, I am desperate for living water! I want to drink from your well that never runs dry- causing a spring to gush forth deep from within my being, so that, my heart might become a well for others to come , drink and see a reflection of you.
Just as my body has been eliminating at an accelerated speed, at the same time I can feel my spirit increasing moment by moment. John “a friend of the bridegroom” understood well in chapter 3: 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Compared to other fasts, it seems that during a 3 day “absolute” fast, more takes place within my spirit at a very rapid pace–than does in a 3 day “water” fast or a 3 day “partial” fast.
May I always remember to draw from the well….
